Terms of Service
Operated by The Brief Limited. Last updated: August 2026.
These Terms of Service explain how OnlyListen works and the rules that apply when you use it. By using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. What the service does
OnlyListen turns webpages, PDFs, Word documents (.docx), PowerPoint presentations (.pptx) and pasted text into spoken audio. Webpage text is fetched and extracted on the server so that ordinary pages work despite browser restrictions. Documents are read in your browser and are not uploaded to our servers.
2. No account required
You can use OnlyListen for free without creating an account. Free users hear articles with their browser's built-in voices.
The Plus subscription unlocks AI-powered natural voices. To manage Plus, we only ask for your email address. We do not require a password, profile, or any other personal information.
3. Payments and subscriptions
Plus is billed monthly or yearly through our online reseller, Paddle. Our order process is conducted by Paddle.com, which is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle handles payments, billing, tax, invoicing, cancellation, refunds, and customer service inquiries related to the transaction. For full details on how Paddle manages payments, billing, tax, and refunds, please see Paddle's Buyer Terms.
You can cancel at any time through the billing link provided after checkout or by contacting Paddle support. If you cancel, you keep access until the end of the current billing period.
We offer a 15-day money-back guarantee for qualifying purchases. See our Refund Policy for details.
Prices are subject to change with reasonable notice. Any change will take effect at the start of your next billing period.
4. Acceptable use
You may use OnlyListen only for lawful purposes. You agree not to use the service to:
- process or distribute content that violates any law or regulation;
- infringe someone else's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights;
- abuse, harass, threaten, or harm others;
- attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the service.
We may suspend or terminate access for behavior that violates these rules.
5. Your content
We do not store the articles, documents, or text you listen to. Webpage text is extracted only to return it to your browser for reading. Documents are processed locally in your browser. You retain all rights to your content.
6. Third-party services and speech synthesis
OnlyListen uses two separate text-to-speech technologies to read content aloud:
- Browser speech synthesis (free voices). The free voices use your browser's built-in Web Speech API. Your selected text is processed locally by the browser or by your operating system's speech services. OnlyListen does not send this text to our servers or to any third-party speech provider.
- ElevenLabs (Plus voices). Optional AI voices are provided by ElevenLabs, Inc. If you choose an ElevenLabs voice, the text being read is sent to ElevenLabs' servers only for speech synthesis. We do not store that audio or text. Your use of ElevenLabs is also subject to their terms and policies.
By using a voice, you acknowledge and agree that the relevant speech provider may process the text as needed to generate audio.
7. Service availability
We aim to keep OnlyListen available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Some webpages, files, or voices may not work due to technical limits, restrictions from third parties, or browser compatibility. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.
8. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, The Brief Limited is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of OnlyListen. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or $50 if you did not pay.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be posted at this page. Continuing to use the service after changes means you accept the updated terms.
10. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, without regard to conflict of law principles.
