Read aloud Chrome extension

OnlyListen turns any webpage into audio. Add the extension to Chrome, click the toolbar button, and the page you're on opens in OnlyListen — already loaded and ready to play.

How to install it in Chrome

1. Unzip the downloaded file.
2. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome, Edge, Brave or another Chromium browser.
3. Turn on “Developer mode” (toggle in the top-right corner).
4. Click “Load unpacked” and choose the unzipped folder.
5. Pin the OnlyListen icon to your toolbar for one-click listening.

The extension is not on the Chrome Web Store yet, so this “unpacked” install is the only way to add it. You only need to do it once.

What the extension reads aloud

• Articles and newsletters. The page is stripped of menus, adverts and cookie banners, so only the article is read aloud.
• Reports and documents. PDFs, Word and PowerPoint files can be opened in OnlyListen and listened to the same way.
• Text you paste. Drop in any passage when a page blocks extraction.
• Natural voices. Free browser voices, plus human-sounding AI narration with OnlyListen Plus.
• Speed, skip and highlighting. 0.5×–2× speed, 15-second skips, and the sentence being read stays highlighted and in view.

Which browsers does it work in?

Any Chromium browser: Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera and Arc. On iPhone and Android you can add OnlyListen to your home screen instead, or just paste a link on the homepage.

No account is needed to listen. Page text is processed only to extract the readable article and is not stored.
